    加拿大圣弗朗西斯泽维尔大学St. Francis Xavier UniversityMichael J. Melchin教授是国际知名笔石专家和志留系研究的权威学者。他师从加拿大著名笔石专家Alf Lenz教授,长期致力于志留纪笔石系统分类、谱系演化,志留系综合地层学、高精度地质年表,奥陶-志留系黑色页岩与缺氧事件,奥陶纪末生物大灭绝及其后生物与环境协同演化等方面的研究工作,累计发表SCI 论文、专著、会议摘要等190 余篇/册。他目前担任国际地层委员会志留系分会主席、国际志留系分会埃隆阶底界和特列奇阶底界国际工作组成员、国际地球科学对比计划591项目联合负责人、加拿大地层委员会副主席,并先后担任Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences、Journal of Paleontology、3P、Stratigraphy 和GFF 等SCI杂志的副主编或客座副主编之职。
